Solutions for Dry Mouth Triggered by Dental braces, Invisalign®, or Retainers
We may be specifying the obvious here, but drinking more liquids or drinking a sprinkle often throughout the day is a sure-fire way of maintaining dry mouth control. Bear in mind that an ordinary sprinkle is best, as beverages that contain sugar, alcohol, and/or high levels of caffeine can make the problem even worse.
Suck on Ice Chips
Drawing on ice chips is another way to moisten your mouth. It can also relieve any discomfort you might be experiencing if your dental braces are new or you’ve simply had a modification. You could also try small items of partly icy melon or cucumber for a bit included taste.
Whichever you choose, simply remember to draw, not chew(!) to avoid potential damage to your dental braces and teeth.
Suck on Sugar-free Mints or Dry Mouth Lozenges
Drawing on sugar-free sweets or mints can also assist with the dry skin triggered by dental braces, retainers, or Invisalign®, while also maintaining your breath minty fresh.
Mints that contain xylitol are the best choice, as it helps prevent tooth degeneration. Spry mints come in a variety of tastes and are sweetened with 100% all-natural xylitol. Various other popular brand names consist of Pur and Zellie’s.
If mints aren’t maintaining your dry mouth away, you might want to try a lozenge that’s particularly designed to combat Xerostomia. OraCoat XyliMelts, ACT Dry Mouth Lozenges, and Biotene Dry Mouth Lozenges are all highly ranked dry mouth lozenge brand names. Be certain to follow the instructions on the tag and obtain your doctor’s consent if needed before using these items.
While mints or lozenges may put you on the fast track to a moister mouth, keep in mind they will not remedy any additional pain you might be experiencing such as the ice will.
